Smart Rural 27 - Lighthouse example Stanz im Mürztal

A community engagement process started in Stanz im Mürztal with a focus on improving the quality of life of the local population. This process was initiated with support from ‘Local Agenda 21’ process in 2016 to enable an integrated development of the village with the knowledge and support of the inhabitants.

The village has been focusing on green transition that is primarily building on local renewable energy production. In addition to wind power, Stanz has a rich potential of biomass from wood, hydropower and potential areas for the generation of energy from solar power.
